Every four years the most important sporting event is held; the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This is one of those special years in which we will see great athletes give their all for Olympic glory. But first, they have to earn their place in order to participate in the Games.
With the first tickets already distributed, the chances of qualifying for Paris 2024 are limited.
So here are the five competitions you can’t miss in 2024.
1.Fazza Championship in Dubai
This tournament is a world ranking event and although it is not held in any country of our continent, but in the United Arab Emirates, it is important for the archers of the Americas as it is the last chance to win qualifying tickets to the Paralympic Games. There will be two places available per category.
Dates: March 2 to 7
2.Pan American Championships and Olympic Games Qualifier
Every two years the Pan American Championship is held in our continent.
This year it will be held in Medellin and will also serve as the last qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in the American continent.
The individual qualifier will take place a few days before the start of the Championship competition and only countries that have not yet won Olympic spots can participate. There will be two individual quotas in each gender, one per country.
The Pan American Championship will also give quotas in the recurve team competition to the country that wins the gold medal, with the exception of Mexico in the recurve women’s category, who have already qualified.
Dates: April 7-9 (Individual Qualifier)
April 9-14 (Pan American Championships)

3.Parapan American Championships
Sao Paulo, Brazil will host the Parapan American Championship.
This is the first time that the para-archery categories will be separated from the Pan American Championships and will have their own venue.
This is due to the increase in athletes in several countries of the Americas.
The Parapan American Championships will crown the new champions of the continent as well as provide the opportunity for more archers from the Americas to obtain international para-athlete classification and test their skills in a world ranking competition before participating in the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Dates: April 22-28
4.Parapan American Youth and Masters Championship
San Salvador, El Salvador will host the Youth and Masters Championships. Archers in the 50+, U21, U18 and for the first time U15 categories will be able to compete.
This tournament will serve as the first qualifier for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025.
Dates: May 6-12
5.Last qualifier for Paris 2024
Antalya will host the last qualifying competition for the Olympic Games.
This tournament will be a few days before the third and final stage of the World Cup also to be held in Antalya, Turkey.
There will be three places available for the top three men’s teams and three places for the top four women’s teams. Individual places will also be awarded in both genders.
Dates: June 14 to 17
The Olympic Games will be held from July 25 to August 4 and the Paralympic Games from August 28 to September 8.
